This is the latest update from Christie's on contemporary art in New York titled 'Top collections drive 20th and 21st Century series to $922,194,466,' which has set remarkable transaction records. This series of auctions featured numerous top-tier collections, providing valuable directions and reference data for collectors.

Christie's recently held several successful auctions in New York. The third chapter of the S.I. Newhouse Collection achieved a total of $177,792,000, followed by the 20th Century Evening Sale with a total of $328,779,600. The 21st Century Evening Sale generated $98,802,500, featuring Jean Michel Basquiat's El Gran Espectaculo (The Nile) as the top lot. Female artists had a strong presence, with over 50% of the lots by women artists, including works by Simone Leigh, Cecily Brown, and Yayoi Kusama.

Gerald Fineberg's extraordinary collection, spanning modern, post-war, and contemporary masterpieces, was sold in two parts. Part I achieved $153,053,300, setting five artist records. Part II earned $44,113,470, bringing the collection's total to $197,166,770. Overall, Christie's 20th and 21st Century marquee week totaled $922,194,466. The auctions attracted more than 4.6 million views and bidders from over 19 countries, setting 34 world auction records, including 15 for female artists such as Agnes Pelton, Alma Thomas, and Diane Arbus.
