Service Description

Exhibition Period: 2024-11-06 to 2025-02-17 Venue: Special Exhibition Hall 1, First Floor, East Wing, Shanghai Museum Address: 1952 Century Avenue, Pudong New District, Shanghai, P.R. China In celebration of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France in 2024, the Shanghai Museum once again collaborates with the internationally renowned jewelry master Cartier to present the grand exhibition Cartier, the Power of Magic. As a highlight of the Sino-French Spring of Culture and Sino-French Year of Cultural and Tourism Exchanges, the exhibition showcases over 300 exquisite masterpieces from Cartier’s archives, spanning jewelry, watches, and historical documents. Together, these treasures weave a compelling narrative of Cartier’s century-long brilliance in the world of modern jewelry art. The exhibition captures Cartier’s spirit of innovation and artisanal excellence, tracing its evolution from the 19th-century “Garland Style” to the iconic Panthère design of the 20th century. By drawing inspiration from Eastern and Western civilizations and blending natural gemstones with master craftsmanship, Cartier continually redefines artistic boundaries. Notably, this exhibition’s design is guided by the visionary artist Cai Guo-Qiang and his team. Through the use of cAI™ (pronounced AI Cai) technology, they have crafted mesmerizing digital renditions of Ni Zan’s landscapes alongside Jiangnan garden manuscripts. This integration of Chinese aesthetics with contemporary innovation transforms the exhibition space into an enchanting journey that bridges traditional Chinese culture with Cartier’s magical artistry, illuminating the union of natural beauty and human creativity. In addition, the exhibition features over 30 select Chinese artworks displayed alongside Cartier’s collections, fostering a timeless dialogue between East and West. Each piece embodies a harmonious blend of craftsmanship and inspiration from nature, collectively composing a magnificent epic of art and innovation.
