The exhibition emphasizes the "Chinese essence" in contemporary Chinese art and highlights the "Chinese representation" within various art styles and genres. The exhibited artworks include Liu Haisu's "Thick Branches and Large Leaves Lotus Flower," Zhang Fangbai's "Seven Eagles," and Zhou Chunya's "Plum Blossoms in a Vase." Despite the diverse genres of the artworks, including Chinese painting, oil painting on canvas, and acrylic painting, they all share the common characteristic of Chinese essence. Curator Peng Feng, in the exhibition's preface, points out that "representation and freehand brushwork" are both similar and different at the artistic level, representing the creative transformation and innovative development of Chinese artistic traditions in contemporary times. Therefore, the exhibition theme of "China Showcase" aligns with the historic moment of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, both in terms of reality and art.
