Service Description

Gems are the ultimate in glitz, and have been described as star fragments or tears of the gods. People collect a wide range of items, from the sublime to the banal. A natural gemstone is a mineral or organic matter that can be cut and polished to be used as jewellery or other ornaments, or that can be collected. There are over 2000 gemstones in the world, but only about 50 are commonly used in the jewellery trade. Whatever the definition of the collection, the collector is always striving for the nirvana of completeness. Some high-end collectors prefer to focus on a single type of highly sought-after fine gemstone, such as Colombian emeralds, Burmese rubies and jadeite, or Kashmir sapphires. Another option is to amass a full rainbow of gems in one species, including one of each of the stones that come in a wide range of colours, or birthday stone. such as pink spinel, golden pearl, red tourmaline, or tsavorite garnet. An expert collector or one with a larger budget might add stones to their collection that, while often equal in rarity to others, have unusual features that add to their value. Top gems with intense blazing colour, extraordinary colour, clarity, and cutting are extremely collectible because they are recognised as an important gemstone throughout the world by collectors, fine high-end jewellers, and gems connoisseurs everywhere. Because of this level of recognition and demand, unheated gemstones are among the rare stones that continue to appreciate in value.
