As a unique art resource, Haipai (Shanghai-style) art is influencing Chinese art as "the source of emerging art," becoming one of the cultural forces that cannot be ignored, and realising the transformation from its classical to modern form. The "Modern and Contemporary Haipai Art Master Series Exhibition" will provide the audience with a one-of-a-kind and magnificent academic vision as an important academic project. Each exhibition will feature eight influential famous artists, each presenting a distinct art history narrative mode and cultural history thinking context. Ren Bonian, Wu Changshuo, Wu Hufan, Huang Binhong, Lin Fengmian, Liu Haisu, Wu Dayu, and Ni Yide are among the eight modern and contemporary artists featured in each section of the exhibition. Some artists gathered in Shanghai in the early stages of Shanghai-style art development on the basis of learning and inheriting traditional Chinese painting, presenting a new artistic look by borrowing the ancients. During the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China, Ren Bonian, Wu Changshuo, Huang Binhong, and Wu Hufan were Shanghai-style artists. Lin Fengmian and Liu Haisu are the artists who pioneered the "integration of Chinese and Western art" and have left their imprint on the history of modern art. Wu Dayu and Ni Yide both studied abroad in the 1920s. Throughout the process, they were influenced by Western modernist aesthetics. Their works were full of strong modernism and spirit, as they combined various styles of backgrounds and genres.
