Service Description

Exhibition Period: October 27 – November 30, 2025
Venue: Level 1, Philip B. Lind Gallery (#131, #132), Art Gallery of Ontario
Address: 317 Dundas Street West, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Exhibition Overview In her first solo museum exhibition, American artist Jesse Mockrin reimagines Baroque subjects through a contemporary, feminist lens. Characters like Bathsheba and Solomon emerge in close, unsettling compositions that probe desire, power, and agency in art history. Curated by Adam Harris Levine, Associate Curator of European Art at the AGO, the exhibition features over a dozen new paintings and works on paper installed alongside Baroque masterpieces from the museum’s European Collection—creating a rich dialogue across time and gender. About the Artist Jesse Mockrin (b. 1981, Silver Spring, MD) received her M.F.A. from the University of California, San Diego. Her works are held in major museum collections including LACMA and the Dallas Museum of Art, and have been featured in The New York Times, Vogue, and Artforum. Her art merges the grandeur of the Baroque with the intimacy of modern introspection.
