Service Description

Exhibition Period: November 11, 2025 – May 5, 2026 Venue: Temporary Exhibition Halls 2 & 3, Shanghai World Expo Museum Address: No. 818 Mengzi Road, Huangpu District, Shanghai Exhibition Overview Co-presented by the Shanghai World Expo Museum and National Museums Liverpool (UK), “Roma Roma: From Olympus to the Capitoline Hill”, a major exhibition of ancient Roman art, brings together the artistic highlights of Roman civilization. The exhibition features 131 exhibits (sets) of precious artifacts, all drawn from the core collections of National Museums Liverpool, the vast majority of which are being shown in Shanghai for the first time. National Museums Liverpool houses a collection of more than 4 million objects, and its holdings of classical sculpture rank second only to the British Museum in the United Kingdom. The exhibits on display span a wide range of categories, including sculpture, ceramics, glassware, gemstones, and sarcophagus reliefs, offering a comprehensive view of ancient Roman art as it functioned within religion, politics, and everyday life. Positioned as a “one-stop encounter with the artistic brilliance of Western classical civilization,” the exhibition is structured around three thematic sections—“Legends of the Gods,” “Glory of the Empire,” and “Feast of Daily Life.” Together, these sections trace the complete trajectory of ancient Rome, from mythological belief and imperial power to secular life. More than a display of artifacts, this exhibition presents a historical narrative of how civilizations are shaped and inherited. Through the lens of ancient Roman art, visitors are invited to reconsider the relationships between order, power, and daily life in a contemporary context, and to experience the enduring resonance of classical civilization across more than two millennia. Tips - Standard Ticket RMB 88, Concession Ticket RMB 68 (applicable to seniors aged 60–70, minors aged 18 and under, and full-time students), Child Ticket RMB 9.9 (for children between 1.2 m and 1.5 m in height).
