Exhibition Dates: Now through October 18, 2026 Exhibition Venue: Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) Address: 317 Dundas St W, Toronto, ON M5T 1G4 Exhibition Introduction The major exhibition The Impressionist Revolution: From Monet to Matisse, making its Canadian debut, is currently on view at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO). Drawn from the rich holdings of the Dallas Museum of Art, the exhibition offers a panoramic presentation of the emergence of the Impressionist movement and its profound influence on the subsequent two generations of avant-garde artists. The exhibition brings together an exceptional roster of masterpieces by such leading artists as Claude Monet, Berthe Morisot, Vincent van Gogh, Camille Pissarro, Paul Gauguin, Henri Matisse, Piet Mondrian, and Edvard Munch. Combining a chronological timeline with a thematic narrative structure, the exhibition focuses on a series of highly experimental artists. Visitors can clearly observe how, through innovations in technique and breakthroughs in subject matter, these artists fundamentally transformed the trajectory of modern art from the late nineteenth century through the early twentieth century. The exhibition was carefully organized by the Dallas Museum of Art and jointly developed by Dr. Nicole R. Myers, the museum’s Chief Curatorial and Research Officer and Senior Curator of European Art, together with Dr. Caroline Shields, Curator of European Art at the AGO. This is not merely an international gathering of masterpieces by the foremost artists of modern art, but also an unmissable journey into the awakening of modern art.
