M5S 2C6 Event Descriptions Tens of thousands of pictures are entered into the annual international Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition each year by aspiring photographers of all ages and levels of expertise. Nearly 100 outstanding photographs from this year's competition, the best of the best, were selected by the Natural History Museum in London, UK, and will be displayed at ROM this fall. Since 1965, Wildlife Photographer of the Year has honoured the best nature photography in the world as the world's oldest and most prestigious annual nature photography contest. The competition's submission categories reflect on the astounding diversity of life in our natural world and include Animals in their Environment, Animal Portraits, Urban Wildlife, Behaviour, Underwater, and many more. A tough-hitting documentary section includes two photojournalism portfolios. The competition uses photography to honour the wonderful diversity of life, to educate and inspire viewers, and to foster environmental stewardship. It promotes moral wildlife photography, honours accurate depictions of the natural world that show consideration for people, animals, and the environment, and draws attention to the wonder and fragility of this planet. For those who collect photographs, this is definitely worth a look. The highest level of recognition for wildlife photographers is winning the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. This exhibition gives photographers a well-known international platform to display their work while celebrating our beautiful planet and inspiring all of us to reconsider how our actions affect our common home.
